PowerTap P1 Pedals

These aren't ordinary pedals. The P1 pedal is a simple, intelligent and uncompromising design that provides the same proven PowerTap accuracy and reliability. The simple one-piece design easily mounts to any crank and does not require calibration nor installation angle setting, providing a true “plug-and-play” experience. The P1 also features dual band ANT+ and Bluetooth SMART for compatibility with a multitude of head units and smart devices. Plus, the independent measurement opens the possibility for a new set of pedaling metrics previously unavailable to help give you the ultimate competitive edge.

    Comments:

Overall satisfied with the pedals. 6 degree float clips aren't for me. Wish zero degree shipped with the pedals or that the option was given at purchase. Sucks to immediately have to go and buy something after spending so much. Did have a problem with right pedal dropping connectivity. Reinstalled the battery cap and that seems to have solved it.

      Comments:

The PowerTap P1 Pedals were a simple setup, just remove your old pedal and install the PowerTap P1 Pedals. Then install the cleats on your bike shoes. Most people could do themselves with some hex wrenches. But if your hesitant, it would a no brainer for the local bike shop. The PowerTap P1 Pedals paired with issues to my computer, (Rouvy and Trainer Road programs) by simply going to the bike setup section of each program and having them connect with the P1 Pedals. They also connected without any issues to my Garmin 1000 bike computer. Once connected I had zero problems with drop outs or lost connection on either indoor trainer rides or my outdoor rides. Calibration before rides (when I didn't forget to do it) was simple. There's tons of data that honestly I'm still learning how to use. I had replaced my previous single leg power meter. Now I know that I'm slightly unbalance in the power between my left and right leg, 53% - 47%. And the power meter really helps me target the effort in my workouts in a way that I couldn't do before. Only one minor complain, the battery caps is made of material that too soft and easy to strip. If you get these, you need to be careful removing and especially installing the caps. The PowerTap P1 Pedals are a great and easy to install, easy to use power meter that gives you lots of reliable power readings with minimal fuss.

            Comments:

I started riding my Powertap P1 pedals earlier this year, and have really enjoyed them. They paired up well with my Garmin 920Xt, and have functioned without fail since. I've used hub based power systems since 1999 or 2000, and they were good, but I was always frustrated to not be able to use whatever wheels I wanted for a given ride or race. I had debated other systems, but as a coach, I've seen a lot of frustration with many of them. PowerTap's products have always served me well, as well as the athletes I coach… and going into my 6th month on their pedals, that positive history has been carried forward for sure.

Bought to be able to switch back and forth between two bikes. So easy to swap! Just plug and play!!! Love them. Was a bit concerned as have always used speedplay cleat system, but within about a half-hour of riding, the cleat system was completely instinctive, so took very little time to adapt. Highly recommend!!!
